Member of Parliament for Iramba East, Jesca David Kishoa, has formally requested guidance in Parliament after expressing dissatisfaction with the Government’s response regarding the construction of a produce market in Mkalama District.
Kishoa raised the concern following remarks by the Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office (Regional Administration and Local Government), Festo Dugange, who stated that government officials were on-site overseeing the implementation of the project. However, the MP disputed the accuracy of this claim.
According to Kishoa, her office conducted a rapid follow-up by dispatching officials to the project area. Upon visiting the District Commissioner’s office, the District Executive Director, and the Planning Department, the findings indicated that the last government official was seen at the site on September 9, 2024.
“When we are here in Parliament, we have direct access to our constituencies and we know what is happening. Being given unsatisfactory answers is very frustrating,” Kishoa stated.
As a result, she sought procedural guidance from the Chairperson on the appropriate steps to take regarding what she described as inaccurate information provided by the Government.
In response, the Parliamentary session Chairperson, Najma Murtaza Giga, stated that the House would refer to official parliamentary records to verify the accuracy of the response before making a ruling.
