Singida Regional Commissioner Gives Seven-Day Ultimatum to Council Staff to Return Over 6 Million Shillings
The Singida Regional Commissioner, Halima Dendego, has given a seven-day ultimatum to employees of the Singida District Council to return over TSh 6 million they collected from various revenue sources but failed to deposit into the bank as required by laws and regulations.
Speaking during a special meeting of the Singida District Council, convened to discuss issues raised by the Controller and Auditor General (CAG), RC Dendego stated that it is unacceptable for the issue of the missing TSh 6 million to persist while the responsible individuals are known and available.
She further directed the Human Resources Office of the council to take disciplinary measures against the implicated staff members, emphasizing that such issues continue to tarnish the council's image.
In her directive, she ordered that within seven days, the responsible employees must find the money—by any means—and ensure it is fully paid back within that period.
