Citizens have been urged to adopt clean cooking energy to help preserve the environment and protect their health from the harmful effects of traditional energy sources such as charcoal.

The Public Relations Officer for the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO) in Singida Region, Mr. Ibrahim Solo, stated that today the company conducted a public awareness session on clean cooking energy. The education campaign was carried out at their exhibition booth located at Bombadia Grounds during the Freedom Torch night celebration.

“We are here today during this Freedom Torch event to educate people about clean cooking energy. We’re demonstrating how to use these appliances so the public can better understand and adopt them,” said Solo.

He added that TANESCO brought along sample appliances to showcase how clean energy can be used effectively through electricity.

“We brought these appliances specifically to demonstrate how they work, so that people can be prepared and confident in using them in their own homes,” he explained.

Meanwhile, the National Leader of the 2025 Freedom Torch race, Mr. Ismail Ally Ussi, emphasized that the use of clean cooking energy aligns with the efforts of President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan to safeguard the health of Tanzanians.

“Using clean cooking energy is not only good for our health, but it also supports President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s campaign across Africa to promote clean and safe energy,” Ussi remarked.

Agnes Proser from Jicho Chanya Company, who was also present at the TANESCO booth, provided further education on the appliances being displayed. She explained that clean energy appliances are simple to use and cost-effective, consuming only one electricity unit per hour without polluting the environment.

“These electric stoves are very efficient. You can cook for an hour using just one electricity unit. It’s affordable, clean, and user-friendly,” Agnes said.

TANESCO Singida is participating in the overnight Freedom Torch event and continues to welcome all residents who wish to learn more about the use of clean cooking energy.
