Joanfaith Kataraia, the current Director of the Singida Municipal Council, has officially joined the list of distinguished Directors who have served the Singida Region over the years.
Kataraia becomes the 15th Director to ever serve in Singida and the 9th since the area was elevated from the Singida Town Council to a Municipal Council. Her leadership continues to shine with remarkable dedication and commitment to public service.
It is worth noting that before gaining the status of a Municipality, the area was known as Singida Town, and the title was then Town Director. Joanfaith now carries the legacy forward as one of the few women to hold this position in the region.
Below is the chronological list of Directors who have served in Singida since the establishment of the region, highlighting the years they served and their contributions:

Juma A. Lupendelle (1980–1985)
The pioneer, who took office 17 years after the establishment of Singida Region. He served with distinction for five years before retiring. -
Ndeshukurwa A. Sumari (1985–1989)
Took over and led the council for four solid years. -
Abubakari D.O. Midello (1989–1991)
Served for three years and contributed significantly to the development efforts. -
Shaibu Z. Muyinga (1991–1994)
Also served for three years with notable administrative success. -
Davis H.A. Njau (1995–1996)
Had a one-year term marked by steady leadership. -
Sabini I. Sirima (1996–2004)
Holds the record for the longest tenure—eight years of committed service. -
Bernadette Kinabo (2004–2006)
The first to lead under the new Municipal status. She served for two years. -
Robert Matondo Kitimbo (2006–2009)
Continued with the vision for development over three years. -
Yona L. Maki (2009–2012)
Carried the mantle of leadership for three years. -
Mathias E. Mwangu (2012–2013)
Served for one year with impactful administrative efforts. -
Joseph S. Mchina (2013–2016)
Led the Municipality for three years with passion and purpose. -
Bravo K. Lyapembile (2016–2021)
Oversaw the council during a period of transformation. -
Zerin K. Lubuva (2021–2022)
Provided service for one year with a focus on strategic planning. -
Jeshi G. Lupembe (2023–2024)
Served for one year with dedication before handing over to Kataraia. -
Joanfaith Kataraia (2024–Present)
A visionary and dynamic leader who now carries the Municipal leadership flag with pride and purpose. She takes the helm during a crucial time as the Uhuru Torch race (Mbio za Mwenge wa Uhuru) is actively taking place under her jurisdiction, symbolizing hope, unity, and development.
Her ascension marks a moment of pride for the region, especially for young women aspiring to lead. Singida Municipality continues to evolve, and under her guidance, the future looks bright.
