On June 20, 2025, the Singida Municipal Council disbursed loans totaling TZS 820 million to 55 groups comprising women, youth, and persons with disabilities. The initiative is part of the government directive requiring councils to allocate 10% of their internal revenue to support these special groups.

The funds were officially handed over at the Seventh-day Adventist Church Hall in Singida during a special event held to honor the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan. The event’s guest of honor was the former Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Anne Makinda.

Out of the 55 beneficiary groups, 40 were women’s groups, 13 were youth groups, and 2 were groups of persons with disabilities. This marks the third phase of loan disbursement in the 2024/2025 fiscal year.

Since the beginning of the financial year, a total of 94 qualifying groups have received loans amounting to TZS 1.3 billion. Of this amount, TZS 902.5 million was issued to 64 women’s groups, TZS 435.1 million to 23 youth groups, and TZS 35 million to seven groups of persons with disabilities.

The loan program is administered by the Community Development Department of the Singida Municipal Council, with the aim of empowering citizens economically through income-generating activities.
