Chief Thomas Mgonto has officially collected nomination forms to contest for the parliamentary seat of Ikungi East Constituency. The exercise took place on June 30, 2025, at the ruling party’s (Chama Cha Mapinduzi – CCM) offices in Ikungi District, Singida Region.
The process of collecting nomination forms began on June 28 and is expected to conclude on July 2. If endorsed by CCM, Chief Mgonto will fly the party’s flag in the upcoming elections.
A native of Siuyu in Ikungi, Chief Mgonto is a well-known scholar and entrepreneur. He is particularly popular among the youth in the district, thanks to the “Mgonto Cup,” a football tournament he sponsors annually. The 2025 edition of the tournament was held in Siuyu earlier this year.
