IKUNGI, SINGIDA | June 27, 2026 – Tanzania's Prime Minister, Dr. Mwigulu Nchemba, has emphasized that Tanzania is a constitutional state governed by the Constitution, laws, and national guidelines, stressing that every citizen has both the right and the responsibility to understand and follow the Constitution.

Speaking during his official working tour in Ikungi District, Singida Region, on Saturday, June 27, 2026, Dr. Nchemba said Tanzania must never return to situations that threaten national stability, referring to incidents that occurred on October 29. He revealed that security authorities have identified signs of attempts to disrupt peace and have arrested several individuals allegedly involved in such activities. According to the Prime Minister, some of these individuals were reportedly receiving financial support from various sources to carry out their plans.

Dr. Nchemba further stated that the existence of political parties depends on the peace and stability of Tanzania. He noted that if peace is compromised, political activities cannot be conducted effectively. He stressed that the government has no conflict with political parties, but its primary responsibility is to safeguard national peace, security, and the well-being of all citizens.

The Prime Minister also warned that certain groups are attempting to use Tanzanian youth to advance agendas aimed at destabilizing the country. He said security agencies have arrested some individuals who were allegedly planning to recruit others to carry out such activities.

He assured Tanzanians that the government will not tolerate anyone seeking to undermine the country's peace and stability, adding that this is not the first time Tanzania has faced attempts to disrupt public order.

Dr. Nchemba directed the country's security and defense agencies to take firm action against anyone who receives money or other incentives to disturb the nation's peace.

Concluding his address in Ikungi, the Prime Minister alleged that some individuals are being paid monthly to persuade citizens to participate in demonstrations intended to destabilize the country.

Meanwhile, Singida Regional Commissioner Halima Dendego said the region remains peaceful, with residents continuing to carry out their daily economic and social activities without disruption.
